by
A study by Lewi Stone, a
mathematical biologist at the University of Tel Aviv in Israel, set out to
determine the rate at which victims of the Holocaust were killed by the Nazis
in World War II. Previous estimates suggested that 6,000 people were murdered
daily at Auschwitz alone, but exact figures were difficult to verify because
the deaths were covered up by the Nazis.
Stone
focused his study on records of the “special trains” used to transport people. Overall,
train trips were made from 393 separate Polish towns, destined for death camps
such as Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka.
Though also used for extermination (mass murder), Auschwitz was also a
forced-labor camp.
Stone’s
research revealed a “three-month phase of
hyper-intense killing” highlighting the Nazis’ “pure focused goal of
obliterating the entire Jewish people of occupied Poland in as short a time as
possible. Apart from very few exceptions, victims who were transported to the
death camps were rapidly murdered upon arrival in the gas chambers, thus giving
the system perfected by the Nazis all the characteristics of an automated assembly
line,” Stone told Newsweek.
At
its peak, the Nazis were killing about 15,000 Jews every day in the camps of German-occupied
Poland under Operation Reinhard. According to the study, of the 1.7 million
people killed between 1942 and 1943 about 1.32 million died in a 100-day period
between August and October of 1942. This three month
period accounted for more than one-quarter of the total number of people known
to have been killed in the Holocaust.
“To
my surprise historians have completely avoided quantitative approaches for examining
this period. But the graphs show with chilling immediacy the bloodlust of the
Nazi program to ob-literate the Jewish people in as short a time as possible,”
Stone told the Daily Telegraph.
The
study, “Quantifying the Holocaust: Hyperintense kill rates during the Nazi
genocide,” was published in the peer-reviewed journal Science Advances. According
to Stone, the pace abated only when victims became rare and difficult to find.
“The
subsequent rapid plunge in the death rate in November and December 1942 simply
reflects that there were very few Jewish victims left alive to murder,” Stone
said. “It highlights the frenzied killing the Nazis planned for the Final
Solution to the Jewish Question and their ability and eagerness to carry it
out.”
The
new estimates are based on work by Yitzhak Arad, an Israeli historian who
compiled data on 480 train deportations from 393 Polish towns and ghettos
during the German offensive.
“The
Holocaust stands out as a demonstration of how the efficient machinery of
government was turned on people in an unparalleled way,” Stone concluded.
“It transcended in its ruthlessness and systemic efficiency. This is the key lesson
of the Holocaust that I believe must not be forgotten.”
Senate Passes Anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestment, &
Sanctions) Measure: The USA Senate on Tue. 5 Feb. 2019 approved by a
77-23 vote a bill that codifies $38 billion in defense assistance to Israel and
which provides legal coverage to states that target the boycott-Israel
movement. Among the Democratic dissenters to the bill - sponsored by Sens. Marco
Rubio (R-Fla.) and Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) - were declared presidential
candidates Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker and Kamala Harris.
Non-declared presidential contenders who voted against the measure included
Bernie Sanders and Sherrod Brown. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee
praised the Senate for passing the bill and noted, "The legislation has no
impact on the right of Americans to personally boycott Israel or oppose Israeli
policies. The bill's scope is limited to commercial activities between
companies and state and local governments." (JTA)
House Pushes Bill to Fund Holocaust Education In Schools: A bipartisan slate of House members has introduced a bill that
would grant money to Holocaust education in schools. The Never Again Education
Act would establish the Holocaust Education Assistance Program Fund in the USA
Treasury. The bill would combine appropriated funds and private donations. A
release from the office of Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., one of the lead
sponsors said the bill would “finance grants to public and private middle and
high schools to help teachers develop and improve Holocaust education programs.”
The other lead sponsor is Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y. The lead sponsors,
launching the bill earlier this week at the Center for Jewish History in New
York City, cited reports of a rise in anti-Semitism and a decline in awareness
of the Holocaust. “Anti-Semitism is on the rise around the world and here at
home, and the memory of the Holocaust is fading for far too many Americans,”
said Maloney, who launched a similar initiative in the last Congress which
languished. “We can combat this by making sure we teach our students, tomorrow’s
leaders, about the horrors of the Holocaust.” Also present at the bill’s
launch were representatives of Jewish advocacy groups and Israeli diplomats.

Jews Complain: The Rabbis
are Sounding Like Christians!
David
Lazarus, www.IsraelToday.co.il
Rabbis
generally do not speak out against abortion, at least not like Christians. But
New York's terrible new law allowing abortion up to the moment of birth has
stirred at least two of the largest rabbinical councils in the US to come out
with public statements on the controversial issue.
“Jewish law opposes abortion, except in cases
of danger to the mother,” reads the Rabbinical Council of
America (RCA) statement. "There
is no sanction to permit the abortion of a healthy fetus when the mother’s life
is not endangered."
Jewish congregants were surprised by the public
condemnation of abortion. Many of the most popular comments on the ruling,
which was posted on the RCA website, complained that the rabbis now sounded
like the Christians:
u "This reads more like evangelical Christianity
than Orthodox Judaism."
u "Why is the RCA emulating the Catholic
Church rather than following the halacha?"
u "RCA you may want to brush up on Halacha
before latching on to Christian ideals."
Rabbi
Daniel Korobkin, vice president of the RCA, went so
far as to call abortion murder: “The
removal of any restriction from abortion access and the redefining of the word
‘homicide’ to exclude abortion, indicate a further erosion of the moral values
of our society, where killing babies is no longer construed as immoral in any
way.”
The fact that the law was passed in New
York, a state heavily populated by Orthodox Jews, moved the rabbinic councils
to make a clear ruling. It also seems like the Orthodox Jewish world is moving
to the right politically, much along the same lines as conservative Christians.
Abortion in Israel is common, about 100 to
every 1,000 births, but is still only half of that in Europe, while in 2018,
New Yorkers aborted 350 babies to every 1,000 births, according to the
Guttmacher Institute annual report.
In Israel, Orthodox Jewish political parties
have tremendous influence over deciding which coalition can form a government,
but they have yet to make any restrictions on abortion a part of their
bargaining tactics. Unlike Evangelical churches in the US, rabbinical councils
here have not taken a real stand against abortion in the political arena. Orthodox
Jewish groups in Israel tend to appeal to the public though massive pro-life
advertising, as well as offering services to help pregnant mothers keep their
babies.
Dozens of Hamas, PFLP Members Hold
Senior Positions in Pro-BDS NGOs: Israel's Strategic Affairs Ministry has found more than 100 links
between the internationally-designated terrorist organizations Hamas and the
Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the BDS (Boycott, Divestment,
and Sanctions against Israel) movement. More than 30 members of Hamas and PFLP
hold senior positions in BDS-promoting NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations).
Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said the new
report "reveals the true nature and goals of the BDS movement and its
connection to terrorism and anti-Semitism. BDS rejects Israel's right to exist
as a Jewish state within any borders. They want to see Israel wiped off the
map. Promoting boycotts is just a different means to achieve this goal. I
am calling on all governments, EU institutions, philanthropies, banks, and
fundraising platforms to end all support for organizations linked to terror."
(J. Post)
The Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions
(BDS) movement seeks to cut economic ties with Israel. Since its
beginnings well over a decade ago, BDS has never been invoked against any other
country. Common sense and decency ask how a self-described "human
rights" movement can single-out the only democracy in the region, while ignoring
the brutal treatment of women and minorities in countries such as Saudi Arabia,
Iran, and Pakistan. Almost everything the Nazis said about the Jews is
said today by BDS supporters regarding Israel. There is a worldwide struggle
against the very existence of one country of all the countries in the world:
It's not North Korea - not Iran- not Sudan. It's only Israel. Prayerfully
intercede against the BDS movement.
New
Palestinian 'Christian' President is a Fan of Israel
Israel
Today Staff www.israeltoday.co.il
El
Salvador's new president is an Arab of "Palestinian" descent. He's
also a fan of the Jewish state. The small
Central American nation is home to a community of 100,000 Palestinian migrants.
While it is unclear how most of them view the Israel-Palestinian conflict, what
we do know is that President-elect Nayib Bukele has no problem building relations with the Jewish
state.
A
year ago, in February 2018, at a time when many of his political contemporaries
were cozying up to Venezuela and Cuba to spite US President Donald Trump, Bukele chose to visit Jerusalem.
While here, the then-mayor of El Salvador's
capital, San Salvador, met with his counterpart, then-Jerusalem Mayor Nir
Barkat. He also laid a memorial wreath at Yad Vashem
and prayed at the Western Wall.
Arab media reported that Bukele faced harsh criticism from Palestinians in El
Salvador over his "normalization" with Israel. It also seems that he
was vilified, possibly by conservative Catholic elements, for visiting a
mosque.
In a Facebook post addressing what he
called these "dirty" campaign tactics, Bukele
insisted that he was simply not "religious," and therefore had no
problem visiting the Dome of the Rock, the Vatican and the Western Wall.
However, while he has problems with organized
religion, Bukele stressed that he does believe in
Jesus and relies upon the Word of God to guide his life.
"I respect all religions, and those
who wish to believe in them, but I believe that the relationship with God is personal.
I believe that no one is saved in groups, but that salvation is obtained individually,"
wrote El Salvador's new leader. "That's
why I've accepted Jesus Christ. That's why I read the Word of God written in
the Bible when I feel confused or need guidance. That's why I ask Yahweh for
the wisdom he gave to Solomon, though I know I'll never be so wise. That's why
I believe deeply in God and in his kingdom, but I don't consider myself religious."
The
Progressive Left’s Intolerance Towards Christianity
by
Alan Bergstein, Israel National News
Jews
have long suffered from the bigotry of the Democrat Party going way back to the
WW II Roosevelt years when he coldly ignored the plight of millions of European
Jews, most of whom were later murdered.
And then most of us voted overwhelmingly
for Obama knowing full well from his close relationships to Rev. Wright,
William Ayers, professors Rashid Khalidi and Edward
Said, just how he would (and did) deal with Israel. We paid dearly for his
hostility toward us.
It’s now time for American Christians to
wake up to the creeping hatred against them that is quickly taking form led by
the Progressive Left. It sprouted and was incubated during (here we go again!)
the Obama presidency and is now a driving force within the Democrat Party.
Remember the Little Sisters of the Poor who
were forced to go to court to fight the Obama-Care stipulation that all employers
had to provide their employees with birth control whatevers,
the case of the Christian baker sued for refusing to bake a same-sex wedding
cake? And how about President Obama’s being granted an honorary Doctorate of
Law degree from Notre Dame University and his speech at Georgetown U, where
both schools were ordered by Obama to cover up their religious symbols? Not so
at his talks at mosques.
This war against Christianity started in
his early years at the White House, but was anyone listening? A small segment
of the Jewish community, the surviving politically conservative ones, together
with like minded Christians saw this movement developing but were smothered by
the mainstream media’s and our own peoples’ obeisance to the Liberal Left...
Israel: Still the
Underdog in Today's Middle East - James Sinkinson (JNS)
Israel is the Middle East's
ultimate scrappy underdog. Few countries in the world are more threatened by
more belligerent enemies than Israel. Certainly, no country is hated as vehemently
for its very existence. Iran threatens Israel on virtually a daily basis and
makes belligerent military gestures on Israel's borders through its sponsorship
of Syria and terror groups.
Israel is
the only rule-of-law democracy and Western ally in the Middle East, struggling
to defend itself against a deadly array of Islamist forces - including Iran,
Syria, Turkey, Hizbullah and the Palestinians - all
of whom are attempting to destroy the Jewish state. In truth, Israel is no less
an underdog today than it was in 1948.
It
struggles under a constant international diplomatic barrage at the UN, and
daily attempts to violate its borders via land and sea...

Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked is the most widely respected politician in Israel,
according to a survey conducted by website Lady
Globes with the goal of assessing public attitudes to the country’s
politicians.
The minister was chosen as the most admired
by 18% of those polled. It’s the second year Shaked
was picked for the top spot, beating her last year’s result of 16%. Shaked is most popular among men (26%), compared to women
(17%). (Editor's Note:
Usually female candidates are more popular among women. In this case,
the men prefer the attractive female candidate.)
Shaked is a
co-founder of the New Right party with Education Minister Naftali Bennett. The
two broke away from the Jewish Home party
in December. Although Bennett is the principal leader of the new party, due to Shaked’s popularity her name appears first on campaign
posters.
Second place in the survey went to Knesset
Member Orly Levy-Abekasis
with 13 percent. She currently serves as an independent member of Israel’s
parliament, having broken away from the Israel Beiteinu
party. Levy-Abekasis has formed her own party, Gesher, which recent polls show winning four seats in the
April elections.
Likud member and Minister of Culture and
Sport Miri Regev was selected by 12% of those polled, followed by Labor party
MK Shelly Yachimovich with 6%, Lady Globes reports. Yachimovich was recently selected as opposition leader by
Labor party chairman Avi Gabbay.
The survey took place in early January
through a representative online sample of 604 respondents aged 18 and over,
representing all segments of Israel’s population that goes online, including
the Arab sector.
Rabbi
Yechiel Eckstein: Builder Bridges of
Understanding Between Christians And Jews
Pat
Robertson, Founder-CBN said:
"Words cannot express the sorrow I feel at the
untimely passing of my dear friend, Yechiel Eckstein.
Yechiel has been a pioneer and champion of
Christian/Jewish relations for decades. We have worked together on many
projects, and the success of his organization attests to compassion that he
feels for his fellow Jews who suffer in poverty in various parts of the world.
I am sure I echo the words of our Lord, 'Well done, my good and faithful
servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.'"…
Rabbi Yechiel
Eckstein, the beloved founder of the International Fellowship of Christians and
Jews, suddenly passed away Wednesday. He was 67 years old… When Rabbi Eckstein
founded The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews in 1983, his goal
was simple: to build bridges of understanding between Christians and Jews, and
to show Christians how to reestablish their Biblical connection to the land of
Israel and the Jewish people.
For more than three decades, IFCJ has far
exceeded expectations. Not only is the organization a leader in
Jewish-Christian relations, but it has also helped thousands of Jews around the
world escape poverty and anti-Semitism and return to their Biblical homeland—Israel.
The organization has funded humanitarian
assistance that has touched millions of Jews worldwide. IFCJ raises about $140
million a year, making it one of Israel's largest humanitarian organizations.
Overall, the organization has raised more
than $1.4 billion, mostly from evangelical Christians. Those funds go towards
Holocaust survivors, social programs, hospitals, and even bomb shelters for
those affected by conflicts with Hamas.”
‘Anti-Zionism’ Threatens Europe’s Jews by Daniel Schwammenthal
We keep hearing it
isn’t the same as anti-Semitism. Even the EU knows better
www.wsj.com/articles
‘Anti-Zionism
isn’t the same as anti-Semitism,” we keep hearing. A new study suggests that for
Jewish Europeans, the distinction is without a difference.
The European Union Agency for Fundamental
Rights polled some 16,500 Jews in 12 countries that account for 90% of the EU’s
Jewish population. 85% say anti-Semitism is a problem in their country, and 28%
report having experienced anti-Semitic harassment in the preceding 12
months—including 37% of those “who wear, carry or display items in public that
could identify them as Jewish.” As a result, 34% avoid visiting Jewish events
or sites, and 38% have considered emigrating.
Those who reported being harassed were
asked to describe the perpetrator of the most serious incident. Only 13%
said it was “someone with a right-wing political view,” compared with 30%
who cited extremist Muslim views and 21% left-wing political views. (It
is interesting to note that Radical Islam and the Radical Left are each bigger threats to Jews than the Radical Right. The Islamic invasion
is hurting Jews. RAC)
Respondents were asked about anti-Semitic
statements they heard online, in other media and at political events. The most
common one, which 51% said they hear “frequently” or “all the time,” was
“Israelis behave ‘like Nazis’ towards the Palestinians”—a claim that demonizes
the Jewish state while diminishing the crimes of real Nazis.
The leftist counterargument is that
anti-Zionism is a legitimate political position that has nothing to do with
anti-Semitism. But anti-Zionists discriminate against the Jews alone among the
peoples (and nations RAC) of the world and call for the Jewish
state’s economic, cultural and academic boycott. What sense would it make to
say: “I don’t think Ireland has a right to exist, but I’m not anti-Irish”?
Anti-Semitism has been likened to a virus
that adapts to changes in society. What may have started with the accusation of
“Christ-killer” morphed to socioeconomic “justifications” for Jew-hatred. In
the late 19th century, racial theories provided pseudoscientific “evidence” of
Jewish inferiority. The medieval libel of “Jews poisoning the wells” turned
into “Zionists poison Palestinian water.” The 19th-century German politician
Heinrich von Treitschke said “the Jews are our misfortune,” which the Nazis
later picked up. The sentiment finds its modern equivalent in, “The world would
be a better a better place without Israel.” A third of the respondents in the
EU poll said they hear that frequently or all the time...
An
Excellent History Lesson:
A
Jewish Boycott
Iran's Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged
the Muslim World to boycott anything and everything that originates with the
Jewish people.
In response, Meyer M. Treinkman,
a pharmacist, out of the kindness of his heart, offered to assist them in their
boycott as follows:
"Any Muslim who has Syphilis must not
be cured by Salvarsan discovered by a Jew, Dr. Ehrlich. He should not even try
to find out whether he has Syphilis, because the Wasserman Test is the discovery
of a Jew. If a Muslim suspects that he has Gonorrhea,
he must not seek diagnosis,
because he will be using the method of a Jew named Neissner.
"A Muslim who has heart disease must
not use Digitalis, a discovery by a Jew, Ludwig Traube.
Should he suffer with a toothache, he must not use Novocaine,
a discovery of the Jews, Widal and Weil.
If a Muslim has Diabetes, he must not use
Insulin, the result of research by Minkowsky, a Jew.
If one has a headache, he must shun Pyramidon and Antypyrin,
due to the Jews, Spiro and Ellege.
Muslims with convulsions must put up with
them because it was a Jew, Oscar Leibreich, who
proposed the use of chloral hydrate.
Muslims must do likewise with their psychic
ailments because Freud, father of psychoanalysis, was a Jew.
Should a Muslim child get diphtheria, he
must refrain from the “Schick" reaction which was invented by the Jew,
Bella Schick.
"Muslims should be ready to die in
great numbers and must not permit treatment of ear and brain damage, work of
Jewish Nobel Prize winner, Robert Baram.
They should continue to die or remain crippled
by Infantile Paralysis because the discoverer of the anti-polio vaccine is a
Jew, Jonas Salk.
"Muslims must refuse to use
streptomycin and continue to die of Tuberculosis because a Jew, Zalman Waxman, invented the wonder drug against this
killing disease.
Oh, and by the way, don't call for a doctor
on your cell phone because the cell phone was invented in Israel by a Jewish
engineer.

Apologize for Brutal Slaying of Israeli Teenager

Jews and Arabs often get along just fine, but that reality is almost
never reported by the mainstream media. (Nati Shohat/Flash90)
Several
Palestinian Arabs visited the home of the Ansbacher
family in the Jewish settlement of Tekoa to express deep regret over the slaying
of their daughter, Ori Ansbacher, by a Palestinian
man. "There’s no religion in the world that supports this kind of
act," insisted the leader of the Palestinian delegation, Ziyad Sabatin, in remarks to 103 FM, Non Stop
Radio, outside the Ansbacher home. "We came to
console here today," he added.
Sabatin has been
pushing coexistence between Jews and Arabs for years, along with many other
Palestinians from his hometown of Husan and other
towns and villages in the vicinity of Bethlehem. What's notable is that Sabatin doesn't do this in the framework of left-wing Israeli
politics that often view the very presence of Jews in the so-called "West
Bank" as an obstacle to peace and a near-justification for terror.
No, Sabatin wants
peace and coexistence with
his Jewish settler neighbors. And he said that most of the time, there is relative
peace and coexistence, but it's never shown by the mainstream media.
"The interest of journalists is to
find where there’s violence," he told 103 FM. "Whenever there’s
blood, you see them running there straightaway and making a fuss. Where there’s
peace, you don’t see that. That’s a problem with journalists. We do a lot for
peace, gatherings with people, a ton of activities for peace, coexistence, a
shared life."

Muslim texts can be extreme. And some Muslims do not want to
admit that. But Mohammad Tawhidi, a moderate Imam, is
courageous enough to say the truth.
Mohammad Tawhidi
is a moderate Muslim. He wants to spread peace. Tawhidi
tries to show the dangers of radical Islam. What is crazy is that he has been
kicked off and banned from Facebook on multiple occasions. All he wants to do
is stop radical Islam and spread peace, and leftists want to stop him from doing that- for some strange
reason.
But he has not backed down. And he does not
seem like he will. When it comes to sharing the truth, he has the courage to
stand up and speak up. Even if others are fighting against him, Tawhidi stands for what he believes in. He is a Muslim
himself, yet he understands that Muslim texts have the tendency to radicalize
Muslims.
In this debate, Tawhidi
addresses the fact that Muslim texts lead young Muslims in the wrong
direction. He says, “This happens because of the books that we have, the
Islamic scriptures that we have. They push the Muslim youth to believe that if
you go out there and you kill the infidel, that’s how you will gain paradise.”
Jamal, on the other hand, claims that is not true. He says that it is because
of ISIS that Muslims are getting radicalized. Jamal claims the scriptures have
existed for hundreds of years and did not incite violence. But Tawhidi fights back with the truth – for 1400 years, Islam
has been a religion of war.
Muslims are hearing and learning what their
texts say. Young Muslims are being influenced by radical texts and extremism.
Even when it is hard to face the truth, it must be done. Especially when an entire
society is at risk.
U.S. House of Representatives Approves Motion Condemning Anti-Semitism - Juliegrace Brufke
The
U.S. House of Representatives approved a motion on Wednesday condemning
anti-Semitism in a 424-0 vote. The motion states: "It is in the national
interests of the United States to combat anti-Semitism at home and abroad. With
an unfortunate rise in anti-Semitism and attempts to delegitimize Israel, the
United States House of Representatives must emphasize the importance of
combating anti-Semitism and reject all movements that deny Israel's right to
exist." (The Hill)
David Ben Gurion Spoke About Love
In
a speech given in 1944 to a gathering of youth groups in Haifa, David Ben
Gurion, who would in the near future be the Prime Minister of Israel, referred
to these words as an example of how Judaism serves as a paradigm of a society
built on morality, peace and love: “Ours was a tiny nation inhabiting a small
country, and there have been many tiny nations and many small countries, but
ours was a tiny nation possessed of a great spirit; an inspired people that
believed in its pioneering mission to all men, in the mission that had been
preached by the prophets of Israel.
“This people gave the world great and
eternal moral truths and commandments. This people rose to prophetic visions of
the unity of the Creator with His creation, of the dignity and infinite worth
of the individual because every man is created in the divine image, of social
justice, universal peace, and love: ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’
This people was the first to prophesy about ‘the end
of days,’ the first to see the vision of a new human society.” Even though Ben
Gurion was not a religious Jew, he was deeply influenced by the Bible, which
had a profound impact on his outlook and his actions on behalf of the Jewish
State.
Why Do So Many
American Politicians Support Israel?
- Sam Goldman
American
attitudes toward Israel have been shaped far more by debates among non-Jews
than by the influence of Jewish organizations. The most important reason public
officials support Israel is that the American public does. In fact, approval is
at a 17-year high, with 74% of adults reporting a favorable opinion.
Public support for Israel is not a new phenomenon. Surveys conducted between
1947 and 1949 showed that nearly three times as many Americans sympathized with
Jews over Arabs in the conflict in former Mandatory Palestine.
American approval for Israel has deep historical roots in the Christian understanding
of America. Leaders of Puritan New England predicted the demographic return and
political revival of the Jewish people in the biblical promised land. In 1845,
John Price Durbin, a Methodist who served as chaplain of the Senate and
president of Dickinson College, insisted on "the undoubted fact of the
restoration of a Jewish state in Palestine."
In 1891, the evangelist William E. Blackstone presented a petition to President
Benjamin Harrison calling for the establishment of a Jewish State in Ottoman
Palestine. Americans who signed included Supreme Court Chief Justice Melville
Fuller, future president William McKinley, titans of industry and finance like
John D. Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan, and the editors of dozens of major
newspapers. (Washington Post)
America
Chooses Morality Over Money to Support Israel - David French
America's
long support for Israel represents an enduring, bipartisan commitment to moral
clarity in the Middle East. Even today, Israelis live under a terror-threat
level experienced by few other nations, and it exists in the midst of a region
full of people who express feelings of outright hatred
for
its right to exist.
Generations of American politicians - from both parties - have seen these
realities and have made the moral decision to support an embattled minority in
the face of an avalanche of outright hate. It is to our nation's enduring
credit that we've stood against that hate since Israel's founding.
A hostile Arab world has far more money and resources than the small Jewish
state that it all too often seeks to eradicate. If cash is truly king, we would
have thrown Israel under the bus in generations past. It is to our country's
credit that we've chosen morality over money since 1948. (National Review)
It
is Anti-Semitic to Oppose Israel's Right to Exist -
Rob Berg
Israel
should be challenged and scrutinized in the same way as any other country. Yet
other countries, no matter how they came into being or how they behave, do not
have their legitimacy or right to exist questioned or their outright
destruction called for. Anti-Zionism should not be conflated with mere
criticism of Israeli policy. Anti-Zionism rejects the very idea of a Jewish
state.
Zionism is the belief in the right to self-determination of the Jewish people
(a right guaranteed to them by international law) in their historical and
spiritual homeland, Israel. It acknowledges the Jewish people as indigenous to
the land and Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, although all
citizens, including Israel's 20% Arab population, have equal civil rights. For
most Jews, Zionism is core to their identity.
Had a Jewish homeland been set up anywhere else, for example in Uganda, then
the accusation of colonialism would have legitimacy. But in the Land of Israel,
where Jewish people are the Tangata Whenua
- a Maori term that means "people of the land" - false accusations of
colonialism are made to delegitimize the Jewish presence in their ancestral
homeland.
Anti-Zionism has become the new form of anti-Semitism. The state of the Jews
has become the Jew of the states. Yet Zionism is not just an idea but a reality
whose elimination would mean 6.5 million Jews facing the prospect of ethnic
cleansing and a return to homelessness.
(New Zealand Herald)
Though Israelis are scarcely surprised
by the phenomenon of Palestinian terrorism, they were nonetheless sickened by
the recent rape of a 19-year old girl, Ori Ansbacher,
by Arafat Irfaiya, a 29-year-old Palestinian Arab
from Hebron.
Upon capture by Israeli forces, Irfaiya made plain the motive underlying his foul deed when
he told his interrogators, “I entered Israel with a
knife because I wanted to become a martyr and murder a Jew.” Clearly unrepentant,
Irfaiya, for good measure, smirked at TV cameras
during his court remand hearing.
Irfaiya, who is
connected to Hamas, the US- and EU-recognized Palestinian Arab terrorist group
that calls in its Covenant
for the global murder of Jews, was arrested in 2017 at the entrance to
Jerusalem’s Temple Mount armed with a large kitchen knife, and had indicated
that, if released, he would “come back here with a knife.”
Such murderous aspirations are endemic
within Palestinian Arab culture, because youth are taught in Mahmoud Abbas’
Palestinian Authority (PA)’s media, schools and youth camps to aspire to just
such acts as a national and religious duty.
Examples include kindergarten graduation
ceremonies in which youngsters put on plays about
murdering Israelis; poem recitals
about destroying Israel and its inhabitants’ public honoring by
PA officials from Mahmoud Abbas down of youth who attempt to murder
Jews; or PA TV inviting children to sing a song
that urges Palestinians to seek “war” that will “smash and destroy” Israel; and
so on.
Irfaiya has lived
some 22 of his 29 years under Palestinian Authority jurisdiction, since much of
Hebron came under PA control in 1997. It is therefore scarcely surprising that
he should frankly aspire to Jew-murder.
Irfaiya’s case is
exceptional, however, for one fact: the PA and the various Palestinian Arab terrorist
groups, who normally are uninhibited in naming and claiming their murderers as
heroes, have disowned
Irfaiya because he raped his victim prior to murdering
her. It is likely that they fear that the act of rape might discredit a murder
that could otherwise be passed off at home and abroad as an
legitimate act of “resistance.”
That
is the term given to nationally and religiously-motivated murder in the macabre
vocabulary of Palestinian Arab politics. Apparently, terrorists have their scruples
when it comes to Jew-rape, just not for Jew-murder.
It
therefore seems safe to assume that disavowal of Irfaiya’s
raping of his victim is an act of PA damage control and nothing more. After
all, it is unlikely that a society that spon-taneously celebrates the
news of Jews mur-dered in a terrorist outrage
is going to be appalled at the rape of an Israeli woman.
In any event, Irfaiya
is but one of hundreds of Palestinian Arab terrorists who routinely end up
convicted and jailed by Israel, only for the PA to grant them a generous income
whose size is proportionate to the number of Jewish lives they have snuffed
out. Conversely, had they died committing their terrorist acts or in the course
of seeking to evade apprehension by Israeli police, their families could rely
on the PA to glorify their acts, to name schools and streets in their honor,
and to provide them with stipends into the indefinite future, courtesy of the
international taxpayers who provides the bulk of the PA budget.
In short, within the PA, a career in terrorism
is the most honorable of callings. The recognition and honor it inspires are enormous, and the financial incentives and
rewards are generous. In a society in which youth is taught to aspire, if need
be, to a violent death in the course of murdering Jews, the disincentive of death
and injury is not anything like the inhibitor one would expect it to be in the
Western world.
As Western publics have learned in recent
years, death in the cause of waging terrorist war on non-Muslims has attracted
no shortage of Muslim men and women across the globe. The remarkable distinction
in the Palestinian case is that acts of jihadist terrorism do not enjoy
wall-to-wall public approval in other Muslim societies.
In the PA-controlled West Bank (Judea/
Samaria) and Hamas-controlled Gaza, they do. Thus the
absence of peace and thus, too, the durability of hostilities.
Sea Of Galilee Rises Over 4 Feet Since Start Of Winter: The water level of Lake Kinneret
(the Sea of Galilee) has risen more than four feet since the rainy season began
in late October 2018. According to the Water Authority, the Kinneret has been
steadily rising... Despite current rainfall and the lake’s increased water
levels, the Kinneret is still more than 16 feet below the mark that is
considered full. Water levels are expected to rise as the winter progresses. (J.Post)

Imam
Mohammad Tawhidi, who is described as the "Imam of Peace," is calling
out Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her
anti-Semitic statements, and he's doing it in a powerful way – while standing
in the very place where millions of Jews were murdered by anti-Semites – Auschwitz.
The Muslim cleric visited the death camp to
pay his respects to the Jewish people and take aim at anti-Semitism in the
US. "I am here to take a stand against anti-Semitism. I am in
Auschwitz in Poland. This is where millions of Jews were killed," he says
in a video posted to Twitter. He then urged the United States to not allow
anti-Semitism in its halls of government.
"The American Congress should focus on
serving the American people. It should not be a platform for Islamist members
of the American government to preach their hate against the Jewish people. The
Jewish people will remain a minority and have remained a minority. If this
situation continues then this minority will be persecuted once again and we
need to make sure that this never happens," Tawhidi
says.
"It is very sad to see what is
happening within in the American government. People like Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, absolute
frauds and Islamists, promoting hatred against the Jewish people," he continues.
Editor's
Note: There are indeed good Muslims who condemn Radical
Islamists. May God bless Imam Mohammad Tawhidi, and
keep him safe.
Jewish Nobel Prize Winners
The Nobel Prize is
perhaps the most prestigious award that anyone can receive for outstanding
achievements in science and humanity. It was established by Alfred Nobel
(1833-1896) in his will. He was the inventor of dynamite and a successful
industrialist. His will instructed that a fund be established to recognize
people or organizations for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology,
medicine, economics, literature, and peace. Perhaps this was to atone for his
invention of dynamite.
The first Nobel Prizes were given in 1901. Of the 908
individuals who have received Nobel Prizes, 205 have been Jewish. This is
astonishing! Jews make up only 0.2% of the world's population. That's only a
fifth of one percent! Yet 22.6% of the prizes were won by Jews, or 113 times
more prizes than they should have won based solely on the Jewish population of
the world. These prizes are given annually to those who "during the previous
year, have conferred the greatest benefit to mankind."
It is obvious that the Jewish people have benefited mankind
tremendously considering all of the Nobel Prizes that have been won by Jews.
These prizes were not won by Jews because the world loves the Jews. They were
won by Jews because Jews earned these prizes. Jewish people often had to
struggle far harder to get an education, often stymied by strict quotas keeping
Jews down to a very low number in colleges and universities, or completely
forbidden in many cases.
Six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust. The surviving
Jews of Europe became refugees. Yet these survivors were able to somehow
rebuild their lives, and even help bring about the rebirth of the nation of
Israel in 1948. Jews continued to win far more Nobel Prizes than their
relatively meager numbers should warrant, for which the world owes them a debt
of gratitude. Not only did we lose six million Jews during those awful years of
World War II. We also lost the descendants of these six million.
These multiplied millions of Jews could have (and would have)
contributed much to civilization if they had been allowed to live. Science, technology,
medicine, agriculture, and many other fields of human endeavor would have
benefited the world. There could have been cures for hundreds of diseases that
continue to plague mankind. Israelis travel the globe sharing the wonders of
agricultural innovation and water conservation with many countries. Whenever
there is a disaster such as an earthquake, tsunami, massive forest fires, etc.,
Israelis are often the first ones on the scene. Much more could have been accomplished
if more Jews had lived.
In addition, Jews gave the world Moses, the prophets, and even
Messiah Yeshua. The Bible itself was written by Jews - both Testaments!
The
World Jewish Congress marked the official day of remembrance for the “forgotten
refu-gees,” namely those Jewish refugees from Arab countries who were exiled
from their homes between the 1940s and 1970s. Jewish communities lived,
flourished and made impor-tant contributions to societies in Arab lands for
over 2,500 years, and were forcibly expelled when Arab regimes began campaigns
of perse-cution.
Robert
Singer, WJC Executive Vice Presi-dent and CEO, said, “ For
too long, the inte-rnational community has ignored the true and complete
history of the Middle Eastern refu-gees. While the subject of the Palestinian
Arabs has been most salient in the United Nations, the rights of the Middle
Eastern Jew-ish refugees have been virtually ignored.
“The
world has long recognized the Pales-tinian refugee issue without acknowledging
the other side of the story – the nearly 900,000 Jewish refugees of Arab
countries who were deprived of their rights as citizens during the same time
period. The persecution of the Jews of the Middle East began even before the
establishment of the State of Israel and continued with the outbreak of the
1967 war. Arab states expropriated the property of their Jewish citizens and
arrested, tortured, mur-dered and expelled many of them.”
“The
World Jewish Congress has a long history of assisting Jews in Arab and Muslim
countries,” added Singer. “In the 1950’s, the WJC helped to enable the safe
passage of Jewish refugees in coordination with several Arab governments in
North Africa. The story of these refugees that the world forgot continues to be
a focus of the WJC in order to correct the historical record and to ensure the
preser-vation of Jewish communal and sacred sites in Arab countries where Jews
once lived. Without recognition of their history and their plight, the
international community cannot understand the entirety of the Arab-Israeli
conflict. It is time that the United Nations and its agencies, governments and
other international organiza-tions recognize the facts and bring to light what
truly happened to the Jewish communi-ties that once thrived in Arab lands.”

100 Gravestones Desecrated With
Swastikas in Jewish Cemetery in France: In an incident of a
series of anti-Semitic attacks in France, a Jewish cemetery close to Strasbourg
was vandalized and some 100 gravestones desecrated and spray-painted with
Swastikas. President of France Emmanuel Macron visited the cemetery on 19 Feb
2019 to stand in solidarity with the Jewish community. “Anti-Semitism is the
negation of what France is,” tweeted Macron on his journey to the cemetery,
adding that he would be visiting the Holocaust memorial that evening in France
“to recall the biting facts of our history." In Dec 2018, a Jewish
cemetery in the nearby town of Herrlisheim was also
desecrated with 37 gravestones spray-painted with Swastikas and other graffiti.
Jewish Agency Chairman Isaac Herzog denounced the desecration of the graves,
describing it as “another severe incident which underlines the anti-Semitism
virus attacking Europe and threatening Jews in the streets,” adding
“governments, wake up”. Minister of Aliyah and Integration Yoav Gallant
called on Jews to immigrate to Israel in response to the vandalization of the
cemetery and other recent anti-Semitic incidents. (J.Post)
Netanyahu: ‘Arab Countries Concerned About How to Fight
Radical Islam': Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu spoke in Feb 2019 at the Conference of Presidents of Major
American Jewish Organizations. The Israeli Prime Minister said, "With the
Arab countries, the question is how to fight radical Islam. Last week in Warsaw
we saw something amazing - there were 64 ministers, representatives of 60
countries, together with representatives of Arab countries who came to the
stage and talked about Iran. They said that Iran is the greatest danger
today. They talked about finding solutions to problems in the Middle East and
said, 'Yes, we want to solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem, but it cannot be
solved unless we stop Iranian aggression'." (INN) Source for the above items:

Australia’s PM Scott Morrison has deemed Israel
“a beacon of democracy in the Middle East.” He said that though Australia
chaired the 1947 UN Committee which voted to divide the territory of Mandate
Palestine, the country will be “standing by Israel in the face of biased and unfair
targeting of Israel in the UN General Assembly.” Morrison last week described
Israel as “a nation of immigrants with a free press; parliamentary democracy;
financially prosperous; the source of innovation in the world; and a refuge
from persecution and genocide, that is somehow now the center of cruelty in the
world, according to some in the UN. That is intellectual fraud.”
Just How Radicalized is Ilhan
Omar’s District? “More men and boys from a Somali American community
in Minneapolis have joined – or attempted to join – a foreign terrorist organization
over the last 12 years than in any other jurisdiction in the country,” Fox News
reported. The Muslim community is a part of Minnesota’s
5th Congressional District, which is now represented by Ilhan
Omar. Omar is one of two Muslim women elected to the House in Nov. 2018. The
FBI has at least 45 recorded instances of Somalis from that community leaving
the country to join radical Islamic terrorist groups like al-Shabab or ISIS. In
2018 alone, Fox reported, “a dozen more had been arrested with the intention of
leaving to support ISIS. Both numbers are far higher than those of alleged
terrorist wannabes who left or attempted to leave the country from other areas
in the country where Muslim refugees have been resettled,” the report stated. In
case you were wondering what kind of people would vote for Omar, a clear
anti-Semite who unfairly bashes Israel, likely you've found the answer.

Did Jesus Come to Start a
New Religion? What about Paul?
Answer: Jesus didn't
come to start a new religion. We believe Yeshua is the Messiah for the old
religion: Judaism. However, even Paul also remained a Jew, and in fact, even remained
a Pharisee (Acts 23:6). In Acts 22:3 and Romans 11:1, Paul calls himself a Jew
and an Israelite. He never calls himself a Christian. In Acts 24:14, he
proclaims his life "in accordance with the Law, and what is written in the
Prophets." However, people took Paul's writings and twisted them to make
new religions, various permutations of Christianity. Both Paul and Jesus would
be appalled to see how their words were twisted, and the new religions born out
of these corruptions of their words.
Imagine the horrors of
killing Jews in Jesus' name. But it happened far too often. Regretfully,
for centuries Christians were forbidden to read the Bible, and it was
only available to the priests in Latin. If you had a question, you went to
the priest for an (incorrect) answer. If Christians had been allowed to
read (and believe) the Bible, most of Christian history would have been much
nicer. Actually, Paul talked about grafting Gentiles into the Jewish Olive Tree
in Romans 11:17-24, not to start a new non-Jewish religion. If people
had followed Paul's instructions, there would be
hundreds of millions of Gentiles grafted into the (Messianic) Jewish faith.

Maybe Burma Shave saved some lives. People laughed and might have
been more careful! It was a real "service" to America, even though it
was an advertisement... but a really useful advertisement
For those who never saw a Burma Shave sign:
In the 1930's, 40's, and 50's, before there were interstates, when
everyone drove 2-lane roads, Burma Shave signs were posted all over the
countryside beside the roads. They were small and red with white letters: Five
signs, about 100 feet apart, each sign containing 1 line of a 4 line couplet and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma
Shave, a shaving cream.

Denmark, Australia: UN Human Rights Council Must Stop Biased Treatment of Israel - Tovah Lazaroff
Denmark and
Australia on Feb 25 called on the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to stop its
biased treatment of Israel by eliminating Agenda Item 7 that singles out only
Israel. Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said,
"Denmark will work for a council that treats all states in an equal and
fair manner. It undermines the credibility of this council and its members when
it insists on singling out one country, Israel, a democracy, under its own
agenda item." Only Israel is singled out with its own separate listing on
the agenda.
Australian Foreign Minister Marise
Payne added: "It is our firm view that a separate agenda item focusing on
a single country situation - in this case Israel - is inappropriate. It does
not occur in any other context for any other country." (Jerusalem

Israel Among 10 Healthiest
Nations on Earth
David Lazarus www.IsraelToday.co.il
That’s
according to the 2019 edition of the Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index, which
ranks 169 countries according to factors that contribute to overall health.
Israel is 54 spots ahead of the United States.
The report, which was published Sunday,
shows that four European nations were among the top 10: Iceland (third place),
Switzerland (fifth), Sweden (sixth) and Norway (ninth). Japan was the
healthiest Asian nation. Israel fell to 10th place from 9th in 2017.
The Bloomberg Index ranks countries on life
expectancy, access to medical care, sanitation and diet. Countries are penalized
for tobacco use, obesity and other health risks.
Eating
Habits
Researchers
say eating habits may provide clues to Israel’s healthy population, as well as
Spain, which placed first. It is well-known that Mediterranean diets based on
vegetables, olive oil, garlic and legumes like lentils, sesame seeds, humous,
and tahini lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and reduce fats.
In the USA, life expectancy has been dropping
due to deaths from drug overdoses and suicides. America placed 64th due in part
to a very high rate of obesity. Recent figures estimate that about 40
percent of the country, that’s more than 93 million citizens, are overweight
and considered morbidly obese.
China, home to 1.4 billion people, rose
three places to 52nd. Life expectancy in China is on track to surpass the US by
2040, according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
Chief Rabbi of
Argentina Violently Beaten in His Home - Jeremy Sharon
The Chief Rabbi
of Argentina Rabbi Gabriel Davidovich was severely beaten in his home in Buenos
Aires early Monday and has been hospitalized with "serious injuries."
Davidovich's wife was tied up during the break-in and the assailants stole
money and other possessions from the home while telling Davidovich, "We
know that you are the AMIA Rabbi." AMIA is the Argentine Israelite Mutual
Association. (Jerusalem Post)
